Splash du Jour: Tuesday

Everything is collage, even genetics. There is the hidden presence of others in us, even those we have known briefly. We contain them for the rest of our lives, at every border that we cross.
-- Michael Ondaatje, in Divisadero

Have a great Tuesday!

Or as Walt Whitman said it: "THERE was a child went forth every day;
And the first object he look’d upon, that object he became;
And that object became part of him for the day, or a certain part of the day, or for many years, or stretching cycles of years. . ."

I am reading Divisadero also. It is probably the best book I have read all summer. The prose is something to linger over, re-read - memorize! Themes echo and reverberate in subtle patterns and every page has something that makes me hesitate, caught between a desire to read on and a desire to have it never end.

Like Potter fans, I suppose.

It may be blasphemy to say it, but I think I like the book better than The English Patient.

Nice blog you have here, cipriano. Keep us posted on your travels - both physical and mind.

Hi Anonymous.
Nice to hear from an Ondaatje fan. I am enjoying the book, even though I am not far in it because I am [as usual] not finding the time, even though I am on holidays!
You know how that is? You think you're going to read five books, and end up unable to read even one?
I've never read The English Patient but I liked the movie.
However, I loved Anil's Ghost. Have you read that one?

Thank you for your compliment.
